Watch this:
That was some inspired lob. I really have to download the match somewhere. Hey, not as if we have Tivo here in the third world!
I guess in pictures the match would be like this:
One more time:
Potro is up next for Rafa. I don't see that match being anything but boring, but who knows right? Maybe Potro will finally show up to a match against one of the top 3 (or 4 or 5) with some cojones.

You missed it, Babz. Rafa was all kinds of expressive. He did things I've never seen him do before. *sighs wistfully*
ReplyDeletePoor little Stani was working his a$$ off trying to beat him. At one point I actually felt sorry for him, and thought about rooting for him. But then they would cut to a shot of sweat-soaked Rafa. So much for that. Rafa won the tourney last night by winning that match. Nobody can stop him now.
It was a nail-biter, for sure. I made it into the first part of the second set, and had to go to bed. (Curses!! Early day to work today.) I admit to being worried, but then, I may be overstressed. Rafa does seem to be a bit off, and his posse does, as well. Papa Nadal and Uncle Miguel were in 'da house,' and no one seemed at ease. I am not so sanguine about the Darth Potro match. But, fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI think it was probably the best game plan that a player could have against Rafa. Stan did all the right things, serving out wide to the deuce court, hitting the ball flat and so hard, Stan's one hand bh, makes Fed's look like half strength. Stan was aggressive at all the right times, and didn't overplay the ball. Unfortunately, as Stan's record indicates, he stinks at tiebreaks, so i knew as long as Rafa could hang in until then, Stan would unravel. All in all the highest quality match of the week, so far.
ReplyDeleteGlad that Rafa pulled it out, because he played far better in that match than he had all week. You could tell it was a tough match, cause Rafa's hair was all sorts of crazy by the end.
Di,
ReplyDeleteUncle Miguel is kinda hot! I don't think I've ever seen him before. I've heard about him, but not seen him.
neil,
*nods in agreement on Stani*
No kidding about the hair! Did you ever notice that when the hair starts creeping out of the bottom of the doo-rag, he usually loses? Except for that match. He finally turned the corner. Yay!
Love it when Rafa's hair peeps out "of the bottom of the doo-rag". Makes him look a bit lost and vulnerable.
ReplyDeleteThe classic one was the AO semi-final against Verdasco. And boy did he not lose that one...
That's what I mean about him turning the corner. First Verdasco, now Wawri. I could be wrong, but I think that's two in a row. He's beaten the jinx!
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteWill keep an eye on the hair direction in the game today!
OMG, are these to women EVER gonna finish their game. I was gonna have an early night...
ReplyDeleteYou are in the UK aren't you? I'm here waiting for the match too.. it's 3AM right now.. sigh.
ReplyDelete*sobs*
ReplyDeleteThe hair came out...and the jinx came back. :' (
Where's our consolation team? Rafa needs some group groping, fondling and caressing right now.
I'm on board with that team. Where do I sign up?
ReplyDeleteOK, Rafa... It's alright, you just let it ALL out. Yes, it's fine, scream and swear a bit. And We'll give you a couple of your friends' broken racquets that you can throw, so you don't feel so bad, no?
ReplyDeleteNo, no, no...go ahead and throw them. Don't hesitate. Come on, be REALLY angry now. Thaaat's better!
And then you can cry on our big, safe rafanatic shoulder.
And then...then...we will show you a few tricks on how to forget about losing to that tall guy and forget about unforced errors and maybe even forget about the tennis for a little while, no?
Some nice things, no...? Yes, it's OK, you can sit down and juuust relax... We will do all the rest.
*unbuttons Rafa's shorts in fantasy*
Oy!
