Roger Follows Rafa, Misses Dubai (and Davis Cup)

From Roger's official site:
Dear Fans,

Today I am disappointed to announce that I am withdrawing from both Dubai and the Davis Cup tie in the United States. This was a hard decision to make as I am missing not only one of my favorite events on tour in Dubai but I am also missing out on an opportunity to help my country try and move on to the next round of Davis Cup. After injuring my back last fall, I did not have enough time to strengthen it completely. As a precautionary measure, I will use the next few weeks to make sure the back injury is fully rehabilitated and I am ready for the rest of the 2009 season.

As always, thanks for your continued support.
Roger

I'm thinking it's a legit injury. If he does not want to meet Rafa, the point is moot because Rafa's missing Dubai anyways right?

I'm also thinking karma's a bitch. Dubai just lost the two top ATP stars. That's gonna hurt. I hope the tournament will be very, very boring because the not-granting-visa thing?  Is petty and outrageous and so damned backward. What a steaming load of $#*%.

Oh, and they also just lost Wall Street Journal as sponsors. Toldja she's a bitch.

  2. sonja: Totally. And I'm not a fan. Sorry Rog, the furry sweater look is not something I like on ANY man :(

Hey Babz! The Dubai tourney is turning into some big time drama queen, huh?!?! Bleh!

As far as Fed dropping out of both Dubai and DC, I think it sucks.... but hopefully it will be good for him in the end. I know people are SUPER disappointed in the States that he won't be at the DC 1st round. That's basically the reason it sold out so quickly, HA! Kinda funny that Fed's absence really amps up the Americans' chances to advance, yet makes (some) fans look at their tickets and say, "Dammit, that's half the reason I bought this thing!" We'll see what happens I guess.

Oh and Rafa hasn't "officially" announced his withdrawal from Dubai yet, but I would be more surprised if he did go. Looks like baby needs some rest. I would advise him skip it....his schedule is only going to get busier so might as well take advantage of being able to take it easy right now. OK sorry about the novel!

  3. It's all about getting ready for Davis Cup (Rafa) and March Madness (both) right now - they need to get themselves physically and mentally prepared me thinks.

  7. By the looks of that picture, apparently not. I didn't realize that Rog was such a hairy beast. :0

  8. Natch - apologies. But if I put a pic of Rafa in the article, no one will look at Roger's, and I want you all to look at that picture for perverse reasons.

I can't wait for March Madness. *rubs hands in glee*

Johanne - it's really very high school, the visa thing. I'd be surprised if US doesn't advance to the next round of Davis cup, but we'll see. And I do not think Rafa will be going to Dubai - he knows he needs the rest. You can write a novel here anytime! ;)

Sonja & Diane - imagine if he goes waxing. *wince*

    Babzetta,

But...but...it doesn't say ANYTHING about perverted Fed.
    I wants me some Rafa.
