WIMBLEDON: The Roof Works, Y'all. And The Brits Were Happy.

Andy and Stan battled their guts out in a 5 sets thriller tonight in the first ever night match at Wimbledon, with the roof closed.

Andy showed some nerves throughout the match and had trouble fighting breakpoints left and right. Stan's one handed beauty of a backhand was clicking on the right gears, and his footwork was fantastic. But Andy just slightly edged out in the competition and a break in the final set at 5-3 saved him. His Mom Judy Murray showed a rare burst of excess emotions and jumped up and down after that break. Stan nets a forehand, and Andy sank to his knees for the close win.

The problem with Stan is that he's got a world class game but he can't bring it out often enough. Oh, but he brought it out tonight alright. Much, much props to both players. It mustn't have been easy being on that court tonight. Andy with the hope/pressure of the 15,000 people inside the center court and thousands more outside on the Murray Mound Henman Hill Murray Mound oh god whatever you wanna call it, and Stan the interloper who must have felt quite alone right then.

Andy being Andy, there was much racquet slapping and punching, snarls, growls, shouts and arguments with himself and even the grass. Stan being Swiss kept his composure and did not even once look intimidated by the crowd's support of Andy.

I think the humidity factor with the roof closed bothered Andy a little. He looked a little tired, a little uncomfortable. But what you gonna do, eh? Here's hoping he can bring out his A game in the next match against Juan Carlos Fererro who defeated Cuteness Gilles Simon to get to the quarters.

Btw? Found out a little superstitious habit of Ginge today. After he wins a point he will ask for the same ball. Aww. And he looks to his mom for mental support between points. Awwwww. Okay enough. GO GINGE!

  1. Babs,
The roof is brilliant (British word)! I got to experience it when it debuted before Wimby. The atmosphere is fantastic, the sound of the ball hitting the racquet...*kisses fingers*...delicious. It DOES get moist in there, though. Which makes me miss Rafa all the more. Watching Andy and Stani sweat, I was thinking, "What a waste. Rafa could be here with his transparent shirt clinging to him." Which I would happily remove with my teeth, of course. ;)

  2. I know, the atmosphere/ambiance looked and sounded incredible.

I AM SO JEALOUS YOU GOT TO EXPERIENCE IT

And sheesh right? What a waste of humidity. After you remove the shirt, my tongue wants a go.

  3. Sweets,
It was one of the greatest days. Watching Henman and Agassi go at it. Baseline to volley. Both making unbelievable shots. And Andre had a bit of a tummy! Well, that's not true. He had just filled out more since he's not competitively playing anymore. Kimmie looked ready to play now. Steffi looked..well..she's had some work done. Her breasts were up at her neck. But hey, when in Vegas...
Oh, yes. She played well, too. Not ready for a comeback, but she didn't embarrass herself.

After I remove the shirt, the shorts are next. I'll stay down there for a while, so have your tongue play with his nipples.

  4. Oh. Ew. Er. Breasts up to there. Not good. Maybe I shouldn't judge though.. I can't promise I won't have a little sumthin' sumthin' done when I get older.

Don't stay too long down there. So much more mileage to explore on those spectacular legs.

  5. I must say I've been a bit sceptical to this roof since I heard about it. But having watched the Murray game on telly last night, it looked great!

Totally think they closed it, because they wanted Andy to be the first male to play under it. It only rained for five minutes, or so.

It's really hot and humid in the whole south of England at the mo, so not only the humidity inside centre court, but the lovely weather is a complete waste when Rafa is not here.
Oh, the humanity... Oh, the humidity...
