Do the words "dorky" and "sexy" belong together? I think Marat have successfully fused it together.
I think this is more of damage control than anything else. Nole using Nike for Wimbledon last year was bad, bad, baaad PR by Adidas, but they really did deserve it. Omg, even *I* am getting sick of myself going on and on about this. No more. I will shut down the comm major in me.
UPDATE:
Don't say I didn't tell you so. Novak has his own advertisement for the soles. Okay, Adidas, we get it. No need to beat us upside the head with it.
I hope I'm not the only one who giggled at "CC Genius Novak Grass".
Thanks to @Out_at_sea for the notice!

I knew Nole would rock those shoes, no matter how ugly they are:P
ReplyDeleteErnie and Marat is the most hilarious dubs team ever conceived. What a train wreck that would be! And I'd pay good money to see it. And Rod Laver just makes it so much more epic. Even the BryBros can't ruin this for me.
Oh this is cute! Though I don't get the CC Genius thing. Is that like Carbon Copy? Please help explain.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you don't mind if I snag these. . . .
I think the CC is short for "Climacool", a cooling technology adidas uses for its products. That is, if I'm not mistaken.

And please do snag! It's like installment pay for things I've snagged from you, lol.
Thanks Babz! I'm feeling bad for poor Nole for having to play by himself. Still traumatized from losing to Safin? Punishment for that Nike shoe swap? Can't play well with others?
ReplyDeleteI know right??? He looks so lonely playing by himself. I really think that Adidas made him do an ad by himself because they want to pound the message "Lookie here, we may have made mistakes last year, but never say that we do not learn from experience! See, even Novak will play with our shoes this year!". Damage control, pure and simple. They could have done a very nice ad with just him and Safin doing something silly on court together, and that would be more "viral" than this kinda blah ad of Lonely Nole, but they didn't. There's a reason for that, and I don't think it's because Nole is a top 10 player and Safin is not. I believe they know the reach Safin has in the tennis world.
ReplyDeleteI apologize. *shutting down comm major self*
[...] to. I heard more than one players were doing that on center court, so maybe (just maybe) it’s not Adidas’ fault after all. I suppose we’ll see by Wednesday. But in the meantime, [...]
