Good News, Bad News

Good news: Rafa won today over Tipsarevic, 61, 60, 62. So much for Rafa's weaknesses

But also bad news.

Hate. The sleeves.

I mean just look at it!

It's clay, it's sunny, and the sun caresses his sweat glistened skin like no one's business. Arms like that should never be covered from my lustful eyes. I looked into my news feed and saw the pictures, and I thought, hm, something doesn't look right... Then I noticed the sleeves.

To me, it's truly an abomination.

Look, big props for Nike and all, for making Rafa's wardrobe change fun with great colors and shirt fabric that will mold onto his pecs and make it look like some vacuum packed chocolatey snack.

But these pictures, and this surface, doused me with the cold water of reality. Maybe it's some kind of delayed reaction or something. I wish I could articulate myself better, but I can't.

I just know that today was the day I truly mourned the death of the sleeveless.

  1. aww, babz, i feel ya. it is a bit of a damper on things not to see his glistening arms. i really don't like the collar. rewatching the AO final, i was a real fan of that night outfit and the way it clung to him, but outdoors and in the clay and sun, it does seem like he should be in sleeveless.

maybe this will make you feel better? some rock-hard rafabs? http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/5082/53pn2dmi05he0005.jpg

  2. I've been in mourning for a while now! I still can't believe the changes....its depressing!

  3. Babz, I added your link to my page. El Toro de Rafa has added to my long list of vices.

    *Shakes e-fist at you*

  4. Yes, Babz...
It wasn't until yesterday I myself realised that something was seriously wrong with this. That polo shirt he wore for the match against Tipsy was...WRONG. That's the only word I can find.
I adored his outfit in Australian Open and I adore the new white shorts, but polo shirts are wrong. The collar is UGLY, that's what spoils it for me. It makes the fit WRONG.
Worst of all, I think, is that HE doesn't look comfortable...
    *cries*

  5. Bennetsocal,

Thank you so much! I'm so honored. Will add yours to mine!

*accepts whatever punishment the e-fist has deigned to bring down to Babz*

  6. The bad thing is, I was trying to be, uhm, mature and all about the change. Seemed to me it was coming sooner or later, and I thought if it came sooner while he's still on the top of the world then Nike will be much less likely to eff it up.

But I feel eff-ed up now!!!! I'm sorry but this shirt is just bad. BAAAAAAAAAAAAD.

  7. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    YES YES YES

    Feeling much better now ;)

Btw toodles, I'm sorry your comment took a long time to appear - it somehow ended up in my spam queue.

I do agree - I propose to Nike to make him go sleeveless on clay.

  8. I concur. The sleeves are bad enough, but that collar only adds insult to injury. The color is great, though. . .

  9. For god sakes it isn't that bad, get over it!!! Why don't you focus on tennis and not the part of him that you can't see anymore. To me he still looks great. He's not the first guy to wear a polo!

  10. Wow such reaction.

    1. I'm not saying he doesn't look great. I'm saying I hate this shirt.
    2. The problem is he used to NOT wear polos, so we already know what we're missing. So if we bitch about what we miss, well, that's our prerogative.
    3. I wouldn't dedicate a freaking blog to this guy if his tennis didn't move me. And speaking about the blog, it's not meant to be a serious one, and it never pretended to be.

But honey? Not many of us would be driven to this state of frenzy for him if, say, he looks like Radek Stepanek and wears what Radek does.

Everyone's welcome to their opinions. You are welcome to yours. I am welcome to mine. That is why I do not moderate comments here. Thank you and please come again!

  12. Good Sir/Ma'am, there is a reason for this being called tennislust.com.

  13. Amen.
And I love this blog sooo much!
    Thanks y'all.

  14. Oh I missed/still miss his old look too, as it was one of the things that had attracted me to him, but still seeing people going on about it weeks/months down the line when it's looking a chnage is nowhere near is very annoying. I loved so much more about him on court that I don't actually feel the need about what "we're missing". If he wants to move on, i'm moving with him. I'm not going to cry about was and still is "supposed" to be. But yes, everyone has a right to their opinion. But come on people, move on. :(

"when it’s looking like a change is nowhere near is very annoying"

  16. "But yes, everyone has a right to their opinion. But come on people, move on."

You contradict yourself. People will do what they want and say what they feel. You cannot say the first sentence and then tell them to move on in the next breath.

This is the thing, alright? I did not go on and on about it. This is the first time I have ever said anything about not liking the sleeves in my blog. As I said, I KNOW the change was coming sooner or later, and I'm fine with it. This is the FIRST occasion where I really had genuine feelings for the sleeves. And actually, not too much about the sleeves but the shirt itself. You don't hear me complaining about the shirts in AO.

I think I'm entitled to just one post of what I think or feel in my own blog. Even if it's about something as silly as sleeves or a shirt.

    Cheers!

  17. Rafafan: Are you seriously that annoyed/surprised that what Rafa is wearing and covering up would be a topic on a blog devoted to Rafa, under the url tennislust.com, where the tagline is "Enabling Lusty Thoughts of Rafanatics Everywhere"?!?! HELLO! McFly! Get with the program!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. well I showed that at least one Rafanatic has gotten over it and is moving on, of course would be ecstatic if I could drool over his biceps during a match again in the future, but i'll survive. As Rafa answered to the fans disapointment of the change “A piece of cloth, more or less, doesn’t make the person. What matters is inside”.

  19. Rafafan, with all due respect I just think you're taking this a little too seriously and personally, quoting Rafa and all. Of course what he said is true and all of us are huge fans of BOTH his tennis and his mad sex appeal - that's why we visit this site. I don't think anyone's survival is in doubt, whatever their opinion. What I'm saying is the fact that you're SO annoyed that people are (still!) joking around on a Rafablog about not being able to drool over his bare biceps is just silly. Let's be honest, this blog isn't just about Rafa's results on a tennis court! ;) I think you should get over that, that's all.

  20. Erm, I love his new look. As long as his shorts keep getting shorter, I don't care what kind of shirt he wears.
I also love what's underneath his new look.

But... my favorite look? The one upstairs, in the towel, legs apart.
    *faints*

  21. Oh I agree...I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rafa could wear a potato sack and make it look sexy. The boy is h-o-t HOT!!!!

    *swoon*

  22. I'm torn on the sleeves/no sleeves thing. For some reason, I'm really not into sweat drenched mats of armpit hair. But I don't like guys to shave their armpits a la Michael Phelps, either. And Rafa's guns really do need to be on display for all to see. Except then I get that view of armpit hair again. Ack! A classic catch 22.
