Q. Would you prefer to go out with a girl that is in tennis, that is a tennis player, or any other girl? Just has nothing to do with it.
RAFAEL NADAL: It is not -- I don't have any preference, you know. Prefer go out with nice and funny girl. Doesn't matter if is player or artist.
This is from the presser yesterday - and looks like it's shaking things up in the Rafanatics/Rafisca/Rafana obsessive world. Oh yes, there is a video recording the interview too!
The whole video is worth watching by itself - fully animated Rafaexpressions! The part of The Question (and The Answer) is at the very end. Frankly? I read and watched the video yesterday and didn't think much of it. But you tell me, Rafanatics!
I did wonder though.. Nice and fun? I can be nice. In fact, I can be verrrrry nice to you, Rafito. And I'm definitely funny, just ask my readers.
*points guns to readers' heads*
Just sayin'. In case. You know. Ahem.
Yep, definitely going out with her because she's nice and funny.Presser transcript here.

That is TOOO CUTE! I love Rafa. Didn't he also once say that sex is a "necessary part of life"?
ReplyDeleteWise beyond his years.
And Babz, put down the Glock and you're still funny as hell.
Awww, how sweet of you, Babz. You put a pic of me and Rafa on the beach up. Really, really sweet of you. I guess now I should point out he can't keep his hands off me.
ReplyDeleteDID HE REALLY SAY THAT?? Man, no wonder I'm obsessed with him.
ReplyDeleteAnd honey, you're too good for my ego. But I have to make sure, you understand. ;)
If I can't prove that is not you, I will scream "TRAITOR!!!" by now, but I can. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhere on EARTH is SoNa??? She hasn't shown her pretty blonde head since yesterday! Definitely hiding something...
I remember an interview done a few years ago where he was asked to describe a perfect day. He mentioned fishing and a lot of outdoorsy lounging kind of things. The interviewer asked about sex. Rafa said something like that while sex is important, it's not necessary to have a perfect day. So, I seem to remember the opposite to what you are saying. But then again, it could be the crack talking.
ReplyDeleteff,
ReplyDelete(BTW, what the hell is a frites?)
I would change necessary to necessity if I were Rafa. Necessary sounds like you need it, but can make do without it. Rafa shouldn't be able to live without it right now. He's only got a few prime years left. ;)
Babzbonbini,
a) how do you know so is blonde? Stalker?
b) maybe she flew to Miami for...golfing...lessons. Hell, if I knew for sure Rafa would be at that pool party, I would be down there on a chaise NOW.
Oh, and while I'm sure Xisca has the tinniest ass ever, his hand looks huge next to it.
ReplyDelete"Rafa said something like that while sex is important, it’s not necessary to have a perfect day"
ReplyDeleteWHAAAAAAAAAATTTTT???!!!
OMG, that CAN'T be true. Oh, Rafa...Rafa...
*weeps in disappointment*
Natchachacha,
ReplyDelete1. Me and So are friends on Facebook. Come join the dark side. ;)
2. Few days ago she said she wants to follow if I move to Australia.. Maybe she's there already lol!
Miri,
what are you still doing here?? When is the flight?? And yes, Xisca looks T-I-N-Y. Mine is at least twive the girth. And yes, Rafa's hands are H-U-G-E. *shiver*
Don't get me started on FB. You don't want a rant about young people. ;)
ReplyDeleteUhhhhh...erm...are we looking at the same ass and hands???
Oh please. It would take about 10 of her asses to make up one of my butt cheeks.
ReplyDeleteMy flight is in 12 hours and 30 minutes. Right now I'm still at work. *sigh*
Huge hands, short nose and small feet....so confusing. :)
*noses in*
ReplyDeleteWhere ya going?
Aww natch! It's not about "young people" thing. FB is about connections. We have a few older fans on the Rafanatics group too. There's a wicked older woman whom I initially thought was you. ;)
ReplyDeletemiri he did say that, i remember reading about it. but then he was asked a year or two later about that particular comment about sex, and he was like, "yeah well that's not really true." so i'm guessing he still enjoys knockin' boots ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry, not interested. Every time my kids tell me about FB, I ask wth it is. They all reply the same thing. "It's a social network." Wtf??? None of them can define, they just repeat. From what they tell me, it's just people revealing way too much about themselves. It's one thing to say, "I peed today." It's another to say " I peed, and here's my name, address, and photos of me in various states of undress." For the most part, it's just a generational thing. I mostly connect with real live humans in real life. Not like here. heh heh heh.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I go to about four different websites. That's it. Well, I guess five now, counting yours! :D I have a cell (that I rarely answer) with no internet, don't want or know how to text, can barely operate my mac, and I likes it that way.
Tell your old fart friend to get some Na-PCA, and then get down on her knees and thank god for my knowledge!
MIAMI! I have tickets for tomorrow night positioned right behind Rafa's behind. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't doubt he enjoys sex. If he didn't, I'd worry about his sanity. I just thought he was too shy to mention it when he was interviewed that one time. It was, I think, quite a few years ago, so he was pretty young too.
ReplyDeleteGAH!!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be within sniffing distance! Lucky, lucky. Have SOOOO much fun. Try to get into the pool party and snorkel over to Rafa and...*censored*.
Thank. God.
ReplyDelete*drops to knees*
*prays to Gods and Godessses*
Thank you for making Rafa need sex. He is still young and can learn much. Send him to me and I will make every girl he meets after me very happy. Amen.
Yes, in a lot of ways social network can be about people revealing too much about themselves. Some people just add god knows who as their friend, enabling TEH WORLD to see all their pictures, etc etc.
ReplyDeleteFacebook USED to be more private. It was made by a Harvard student (who's a gazillionaire by now) as a platform where he can connect with his friends in all his college/university activities. So it used to be Harvard only. Then he expanded it to include American colleges. Then the rest of the world colleges. And then now, the rest of the world. Since it is such a hit (700,000 signing up every single day, current stats) he's expanding even more, trying to make it something else. Like StumbleUpon, but with places and with real friends. To be honest it's getting messy for me - so once it starts getting stupid, I will definitely leave, as I have left friendster and myspace. These things don't last forever, and I think they are rushing it.
But for me and my friends, it's a real live thing in our interaction. We inform people that we are working in a new place, that we have moved to another city, or look at the new dog I just adopted, or pictures of birthdays/weddings/gathering/reunion/baby showers that some couldn't attend, etc. All without a cost! And if, like me, you are in the marketing/advertizing/PR world, it really helps with connections, word of mouth, that kind of things. That's how social network is useful, and FB was different because your circle consists of people you already know. But of course, some people use it to broadcast every single thing in their lives.. Me? I'm too lazy to update anything, short of birthday pictures. ;)
I will shut up now.
Knockin' boots. BWHA! An oldie, but goodie.
ReplyDeleteBumpin' uglies. The horizontal tango. Dancin' in the sheets.
Good times...good times...
Interesting interview....he looks so cute answering the girlfriend question. I prefer? A player or an aritst? Sounds like he is back on the market to me. :)
ReplyDeleteby the way...thanks for posting this....it is a very hot topic on the blogs.
ReplyDeleteNo need to shush. It's your website, silly! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for the explanation. It's the most I've heard from anyone under 25. I'm, uh, still not going to FB, though. I'm not in PR. Unless that stand for Pushin' Rafa now. ;)
Do I get bonus points for knowing what StumbleUpon is, 'coz I do, and actually use it sometimes. But usually it creeps me out.
You're welcome Debbie, but it IS my job to post it! Or should I say, my pleasure. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, but it's not a blog about FB/social network/whatevertheycallitnowadays!
ReplyDeleteI probably could explain it better if I'm not sleep deprived, but I think you get the gist. We all of us are busy - ppl to meet, money to earn, spanish men to lust - and no time to connect in real life? Well, connect in the internet!
It's basically email but with flair. Email USED to be the facebook of its era! Again, I will shut up. Sugar+Geeky excitement = brain implosion. Sorry for rambling, I just thought someone should try explain why it's such a phenomenon. Hey, I should be one of your kids - I actually answer! ;)
You get 20 points for knowing what SU is. By the by, my mom can barely use the desktop - I have to keep explaining "this is called the browser... you type the site addy in the address box... what do you mean where is the address box???". LOL! She's smart as hell - I should know, I get my brains from her ;) - but techy things? Forget it.
I WISH PR was Pushin' Rafa. I'd be the bext in the field. Ha!
I'm old and have a love/hate thing with Facebook. More hate now that they changed the home page as it seems to emphasize the stuff I don't like. I don't need to know who's taking stupid quizzes!
ReplyDeleteLast time I was in NY to meet up with a bunch of friends (who also happen to be Facebook addicts), it was like a full-out Facebook war to see who could update their status first. One night, I can't sleep in the hotel and I look over and the person I was sharing a room with was under the covers with her cell phone updating her Facebook status! (So, of course, I had to do the same.)
Okay, Babz, I'm really sorry to disappoint you, but here is the quote in context (the reporter has asked Rafa to describe his perfect day):
ReplyDelete“What about sex?” I inquire. “No sex,” he replies. “You’re joking!” I exclaim. “You wouldn’t have sex on a perfect day?”
He considers it for a moment. “No,” he says. “Sex is important in life, but if you’re having a perfect day, you don’t have time for sex.”
Well, how often do any of us have "perfect" days! Babz, be sure to meet Rafa when it's raining and he's just lost a match to Julien Benneteau.
Here's the link to the whole article - it's really cute! Link: http://tinyurl.com/2z9k9o
Awesome Babz. I just found your blog and I like it.
ReplyDeleteReally? That's what's getting people up in a tizzy? Sounds like a pretty standard answer I'd expect from any and every player (male and female) when asked that question. Although he is way too cute answering it though. But still, pretty damn standard. Almost cliche-ish.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, maybe it's me. I'm kinda getting tired of all the Rafa/Ana stuff. We get it, they're both cute people blah blah blah. Maybe if I was a fan of Ana I'd get it more (don't hate her. Just very neutral).
I'm with you. The comment doesn't mean a thing to me. I can't even remember a time when Rafa referred to Xisca directly unless practically forced into it. They appear to want to keep their relationship as private as possible and I can't really blame them.
ReplyDeleteme too, I think it's really admirable that they're able to keep it so private. they probably already hate that there are so many photos taken of them during private vacations and stuff.
ReplyDeletebut yeah ... that ass-on-hand pic kinda puts away any doubts that rafa enjoys sex with his hot girlfriend. if there were any to begin with. ;)
Ohhh...I find it hard to type. I'd actually CRY if it turns out he's not with Xisca anymore and if he hooks up with Ana...I will CRY even more!!! Just sayin...
ReplyDeleteHe does blush and looks awfully embarrassed when he answers that question, that was the only thing that worried me a bit...
Me three. I didn't even think of anything about the statement until I read comments like, everywhere else. But then again I'm not really someone to speculate or obsess until my brain explodes.
ReplyDeleteAs for Rafana obsession, well, I'm not a fan of Ana. To be honest I don't think Rafa would go out with her since:
1. She went out with Dasco, therefor, unwritten rule of friendship there.
2. When she went out with Dasco it was so very public. Rafa would hate that.
Ya know.. it amuses me that I put up a picture of BOTH Rafa and Xisca backing the camera, and everyone just takes it in faith that those are both them. XD
I should befriend your mother. That's how I think! My kids are constantly having to explain technology to me. They're all mortified when they have to communicate with me by CALLING ME or worse, e-mail. They try to explain the latest tech during class so they won't have to assume the position, but I catch on to what they're doing...eventually.
ReplyDelete"natch, if you would just let us design a website for you, your life would be so much easier."
"Shut up and and get into Warrior 2."
Hmmm...Pushin'Rafa 101. I think that will be the next class I teach. Maybe I WILL let those youngsters design something for me. Virtual Rafa.
miri,
LOVE the "I'm old and..." bit! :D
So glad you do Debbie! How did you stumble to this blog, if I may ask??
ReplyDeleteKind of a random question to end the presser - Rafa's response was much more animated and cute than in the rest of it.
ReplyDeleteThe "perfect day" article wasn't THAT long ago - Rafa was 20 when he gave the interview. Doubt the hormones have changed that much one direction or another since then. C'mon [tm Rafa].
Also, the "clarification" last summer when someone asked him about it was more like, "That is not entirely correct," but he didn't say how it wasn't entirely correct.
At the AO he refused to answer a question about marrying X, although he stated how many kids he wanted (the numbers he threw out seemed about as random as the "countries with the most beautiful women" question from USO). The "artist" comment was pretty cryptic. May mean something or nothing, but it's fun to speculate!
LMFAO!!!!!! U jelous? U SHOULD Be!! He could do MUCH BETTER, & U KNOW IT! Lol
ReplyDeleteWhat on earth are you talking about? Are you on something? Btw, I'm find with legitimate arguments, but out and out unreasonable provocation will not be tolerated.
ReplyDelete
